Fieldlab Events conducted field studies in the spring of 2021. This was led by lead researcher Andreas Voss. There was collaboration with TU Delft, BBA Binnen Milieu, Breda University of Applied Sciences, RadboudUMC and TNO.
Various events have been used to conduct applied practical research into visitor behavior and into measures that allow larger groups of people to come together in a safer and responsible manner during a pandemic.
Fieldlab Events started in February 2021 with the first phase of small events, where studies were conducted:
- a business conference with 500 visitors;
- a theater performance with 500 visitors;
- soccer games (1,500 visitors);
- concerts (1,300 visitors);
- festivals (1,500 visitors).
Fieldlab Events subsequently received permission from the Cabinet for upscaling tests with a higher visitor capacity. This series of practical studies had to meet various criteria, such as scaling up, broadening and deepening. In addition, transfer locations were added to the research program. The investigations were aimed at testing the conditions under which the 1.5 meters could be released in a responsible manner in various sectors. The central question of the investigations was whether the measures, as introduced in the previous pilots and proven to be good, also worked with increased capacity.
